Finance and Fund-raising
An essential part of the charity is the fund-raising to pay for transport. All the work we do is free and we pay all our own costs when we go abroad.
At 2008 prices, it costs £3,000 per lorry for Albania and £7,000 per container for Zambia, and in 2008 we have dispatched 12 consignments. We are fortunate that some groups, companies and individuals will sponsor a load (if you want to do that, you will be doing a HUGE amount of good, and we will do our best to ensure that you can have whatever publicity we can generate!).
We run an annual prize-draw and a number of other events in an effort to raise the necessary revenue.
We are fortunate to be the frequent recipients of grants and donations from local Inner Wheel, Rotary, TWG, church groups, Women’s Institutes etc. often following talks and presentations.
A certain amount of textile recycling is done when we are given unsuitable clothing and blankets.
